Abstract

Because of the sheer diversity of Android devices, with many types available in many different countries, testing an app on Android can be very difficult to do. The goal for the Firebase Test Lab for Android is to give you a cloud-based infrastructure where a wide variety of devices is available. Instead of managing and maintaining these diverse devices yourself, the goal is to give you a place where you upload your app and a suite of basic tests, including navigation, entering data, clicking buttons, etc., is performed on that app for you. There are two main types of test – automated (or Robo) tests where the infrastructure intelligently works its way through your app; and user-defined, where you can specify what to test and how.
