Abstract
In today’s world, high availability is the utmost priority for critical production databases, and there are various high availability solutions available from Oracle using Data Guard and GoldenGate, as well as other vendors. The best high availability solution is considered to be Data Guard because the standby database will work the same as the primary database, because it can be configured with the same parameters, and because it can assign the same memory to use the standby as the production database in case of any disasters at the primary site. Again, with Data Guard, there is no need to have only a physical standby; you can also have logical standby or snapshot standby databases according to the business demand.
