Abstract

Unless you take the necessary precautions now, eventually your hospital will be the target of a cyber-attack. As I stated before, it is possible to reduce the damage potential by reducing the number of attack vectors. It is possible for a cyber-physical attack to be detected quickly thereby permitting equipment to shut down gracefully (before anyone is injured). The next step is rapidly restoring hospital systems and equipment to normal operation.

Notes

  1. 1.

Detailed cyber-event diagnostics and integrity checks are beyond the scope of this book. Examples of these and other tables, forms, and checklists are found in my other book, Cyber-Physical Attack Recovery Procedures.
