Abstract
This chapter focuses on using blocks to assign content, along with using what are commonly called widgets (which include the user login form, latest blog posts, a list of who is currently logged in to your site, the current weather conditions, and the like) to specific positions on a layout. You learn about standard blocks that ship with Backdrop, blocks that come with contributed modules, and how to build a custom block from scratch. By the end of the chapter, you will be able to construct a page with some pretty exciting features.
