Abstract

When the database administrator (DBA) gets a call about a potential Oracle database performance issue, most of the time, the first reaction is to verify the CPU load on the database server. Excessive CPU load can destabilize a server, and if the system becomes almost unresponsive, you would not be able to properly find the root cause and the only option in your action plan would be to reboot the server.
