Abstract
When every electronic and mechanical device is connected to the Internet and has built-in smartness, the Internet becomes a connected web of “things.” For years, manufacturers have been making appliances smarter and more automated. There is a limit to how far that can go, because a human being still has to make choices about which kind of washing machine cycle to run or how long the turkey needs to be cooked for Thanksgiving.
