Abstract
Things break, and services go down. Teams need to accept that outages will occur both in their own services and in services outside their control. In the public cloud, self-service tools enable a new degree of freedom. With this freedom comes additional responsibilities. Teams must develop services that are rugged and able to deal with failure. Team must develop the skills to respond effectively to incidents.
