Planning a Networking Environment

  • Eric Kralicek

Many new organizations fail to plan for their network environment. Many simply rent space and plug in a network, never building an environmental analysis for power consumption, circuit failover, temperature control, or security. They don’t envision a naming convention designed to simplify troubleshooting. This chapter looks at all of this and more. The goal is to build a strong environmental plan that defines a baseline for equipment to be managed as well as growth potential.
