Abstract

Various kinds of OSPF messages are exchanged between routers in the process of synchronizing their Link State databases. This Database Exchange Process is reviewed in this chapter, including a description of the types of messages sent in a simple network and the modifications that are made for application to a larger Ethernet system, especially for multicasting/broadcasting.
