Abstract

It is difficult to correlate output, particularly the output of human performance, with value. But it can be done. It starts with knowing the desired outcome, identifying the causes of a gap, and remediating that gap through a solution. We learn this from human performance technology (HPT). We establish a baseline through existing (or if we must, fabricated) metrics. We try things and then make incremental adjustments as we go along, always focused on continuous improvement. This we learn from Agile. To prove value, these Agile and HPT techniques are blended. The agile performance improvement metrics provide six categories of success measures, which are divided roughly in two: those that measure value for the customer, and those that demonstrate improved team efficacy.
