Animation in jQuery

Abstract

One of the (many) reasons for jQuery’s popularity in the web development community is its ability to simplify the life of the programmer responsible for creating transition effects on a web page. We will take up this aspect of jQuery in the current chapter. jQuery has a huge, comprehensive set of animation functions with which to perform a number of different animations that are key to a number of features seen on web sites these days, including the fabled slider. In this chapter, we will introduce jQuery’s animate function and then look at how we can implement a slider. Covered also are common issues with animations and ways to avoid bugs.
