This chapter covers the printing-configuration tools: the GNOME 3 Printers tool (System Settings ➤ Printers) and the older system-config-printer tool (Sundry ➤ Print Settings). Most printers are detected for you automatically. You can use the System Settings Printers tool to turn them on or off and access their print queues. As an alternative, you can still use the older system-config-printer. Both are front ends for the Common UNIX Printing System (CUPS), which provides printing services ( ).
