Using Built-in DSC Resources
The configuration scripts in Windows PowerShell Desired State Configuration (DSC) are based on the building blocks called resources. We discussed the concept of DSC resources in the previous chapter, and you learned why DSC resources are needed. As discussed, the DSC resources are PowerShell modules with a specific set of functions. At the time of writing, there are 12 DSC resources that come built in as a part of Windows Management Framework (WMF) 4.0. The future releases of Windows Management Framework may add more such built-in resources. These resources enjoy Microsoft support, and you can create requests for bug fixes and feature changes.
