Denitrification Model for Marine Sediment

Abstract

The purpose of this presentation is to describe the application of a simulation model in the investigation of some aspects of denitrification in marine sediments and to determine the factors conducive to high denitrification rates, preferably resulting in the denitrification of all NH 4 + , that was produced from organic nitrogen mineralization in the sediment. No evidence will be offered to show that the model can accurately describe the processes which occur in a sediment in situ. This proof will be addressed in future publications.
