Diffusion-Reaction Models of Denitrification in Soil Microsites

  • Chapter
Denitrification in Soil and Sediment

Part of the book series: Federation of European Microbiological Societies Symposium Series ((FEMS,volume 56))

Abstract

Soil is a structured three-dimensional medium, exhibiting physical, chemical and biological heterogeneity over a wide range of scales. It is subject both to gradual and to rapid temporal change. Accommodating these features within a model of soil denitrification poses a number of problems.
