Abstract
The aim of this book is to use a control-system perspective to present some of the computer-based methods that are becoming available to assist in the process of clinical decision making, methods that will increasingly find application in patient care. Before proceeding to a detailed treatment of such analytical methods and techniques, we think it worth showing how the typical description of a clinical case report does exhibit many of the features of the control-system approach.
