Part of the The Plenum Series in Crime and Justice book series (PSIC)

The research reported in this volume concerns a continuing longitudinal investigation of a birth cohort of persons who were born in 1958, and who continuously resided in the city of Philadelphia at least during the years in which they were at risk for delinquency (i.e., ages 10 through 17). The findings pertaining to the delinquency careers of the 27,160 persons that comprise the 1958 birth cohort have been previously reported (see Tracy, Wolfgang, and Figlio, 1985, 1989, 1990). The research presented here is one of two follow-up investigations of the adult criminality committed by the cohort as the members made the transition from the legal status of juvenile to that of adult, and thus, from the delinquent acts that comprise their delinquency careers to the adult offenses through the age of 26 of the subsequent criminal careers.
