Confessions of a Sometime Ecologist (Mostly Human)
  • Amos H. Hawley
Part of the The Springer Series on Demographic Methods and Population Analysis book series (PSDE)

Editors’ Note: At least one year or more after all the chapters of this book had been written and edited, Dudley Poston received from Amos Hawley an essay he had written earlier reflecting on his life as a human ecologist. After reading Hawley’s “Confessions,” Poston concluded (and co-editor Micklin agreed) that his piece should be included in our book as an epilogue. Poston then asked Hawley about including his “Confessions” in the book, and Professor Hawley gave his permission to do so. All the contributors to this volume have been influenced in varying—yet significant—ways by Hawley’s seminal contributions in human ecology. It is more than appropriate, we believe, that Professor Hawley have the final word in Continuities in Sociological Human Ecology.
