Detailed Simulation of Large Scale Neural Network Models

Abstract

Mathematical modeling and computer simulation is rapidly gaining in use as tools in neuroscience. Models from the sub-cellular level, over single neurons, to networks and systems of interacting networks are formulated and simulated. The complexity of cell models differs considerably, from simplified population models, e.g. mathematical oscillators, to complex single cell models, e.g. of the Hodgkin-Huxley type, with many compartments, ionic conductances and biochemical processes.
