Squeezed Vibrations in Nonlinear Jaynes—Cummings Dynamics of Trapped Ions

Abstract

The dynamics of a trapped and laser-irradiated ion in the Lamb—Dicke regime can be described by the Jaynes—Cummings model provided that appropriate resonance conditions are fulfilled 1 Since squeezing occurs in this model,2 this opens the possibility of experimentally generating squeezed states in the Jaynes—Cummings interaction.
