Self-consistent local field formalism for quantum dots and quantum dot arrays

Abstract

A self-consistent framework for calculation of the local electromagnetic field in quantum dots is presented. Transverse self-action of the individual electrons is retained and so the formalism is able to account correctly for Lamb shifts and radiative decay in the electromagnetic response. It is briefly outlined how the theory is applied to arrays of quantum dots.
