Abstract
One of the well-known effects that are due to the wave nature of the atomic center of mass is the deflection of a beam of two-level atoms (moving along the z direction) by a laser standing wave (SW) applied along the transverse direction (x direction). Recently, new applications of the configuration but with two SW’s were reported1,2. In this paper a close analogy between the atom-multiple SW interaction and photon or spin echo phenomena will be discussed.
