Abstract

In the last chapter we discussed the importance of the turbulent fluid mechanics on the homogeneous gas-phase chemistry. Different approaches for incorporating the chemistry—turbulence interactions were investigated. An approach for mixing-limited reactions with local instantaneous chemical equilibrium was examined in some detail. The importance of the homogeneous reactions in overall coal combustors and gasifiers was emphasized.
