In a way, an important forebear of Section 3 was Morton Prince, the physician who founded the Journal of Abnormal Psychology in 1906 and later gave his journal to APA. This journal has always fostered the kind of rigorous approach to research in psychopathology Section 3 tries to encourage. As noted previously, Prince was also the founder of the Harvard Psychology Clinic and a champion of psychopathology as a liberal arts subject rather than a strictly medical one.
