Results of the Central Study
In the study on the reliability of globally rating the four stages of drawing development (fortuitous, failed, intellectual and visual realism), the coefficient of concordance between the three raters scoring the 17 drawing sheets chosen at random from the total of 142 was very high (W = .9777). This result shows that the procedure of globally rating the drawing development of children from two different cultures, when they are given the task of drawing the six different building types, is very reliable. This encouraging result gives the next step in the analysis a more solid grounding.
