Abstract
H. pylori is accepted as the most common and most important cause of chronic active gastritis (type B) and is also associated with duodenal ulcer disease. Eradication of H. pylori is associated with healing of gastritis or markedly reduced relapse rate of both duodenal and gastric ulcers. Most single drug regimens have been incapable of eradicating H. pylori.4 Higher success rates have been obtained with combination of antimicrobials.6,5 Prior to initiating therapy, if the susceptibilities of antimicrobials against H. pylori can be tested, it will permit physicians to tailor therapy appropriately, in the hope of saving time, money and patient tolerance.
