Abstract
The past ten years have seen a revolution in American industry. This revolution is a result of our lost competitiveness in the international marketplace. In attempts to regain their competitiveness, American companies have focused on increasing productivity in many ways. One of the most talked about ways has been to make drastic changes in the way human resources are managed within the organization (Grayson and O’Dell, 1988).
