Abstract
In general it could be argued that the public at large regard the exploitation of biocontrol agents, with the concomitant reduction of chemical inputs to the environment, as a sound strategy. This of course should not lull us into a sense of false security by the injudicious exploitation of organisms which could be potentially damaging to the environment, wildlife or man.
