Biofeedback and Sports Medicine

  • David S. Gans

Before discussing biofeedback, in relation to sports medicine, we must first decide what sports medicine is. The usual type of definition, “the medical treatment of athletes, their illnesses and injuries” is insufficient. In the first place, athletes and sports participants are not synonymous terms. Second, professional and recreational sports participants are not the same. These concerns are not just theoretical; they are absolutely necessary if we want to formulate effective and rational treatment plans in sports medicine.
