Abstract

In recent years there has been increased interest in the application of neuropsychological test results to rehabilitation planning. In general, rehabilitation psychologists who have worked with brain-injured patients have developed their own batteries by combining a variety of individual tests, chosen on the basis of their own idiosyncratic preferences. Recently, attempts have been made to adapt more standardized batteries (such as the Halstead-Reitan Neuropsychological Battery) to this process. However, all of these tests have been limited in that they were developed with no clear theory of rehabilitation in mind. Their purpose was most often diagnostic rather than prescriptive.
