The Monitoring of Possible Biological and Chemical Contaminants in Bee Products

Recent significant increases in trade together with elevated awareness in health issues, especially the interrelationship between environmental pollution and food, has resulted in the development of international standards for contaminants in meat, milk and other agricultural products. Consumption of honey and other bee products is especially vulnerable to even a suspicion of hazardous contamination, as they are regarded as “health” products and are not essential for human nutrition.
