Rearrangement Processes Involving Hydrogen and Helium Atoms and Ions

  • Chapter

Abstract

In this chapter, we deal with rearrangement processes occurring in binary collisions of hydrogen or helium atoms, molecules, or ions, that is, H, H2, He, H+, He+, H+ 2, He2+, and H-. He- is not taken into account as it is short-lived and unlikely, under thermonuclear plasma density conditions, to undergo a collision before decaying. For the same reason, we consider only collisions in which the partners are in their ground state or in a metastable state.
