Assessment of Young Developmentally Disabled Children

Part of the book series: Perspectives in Developmental Psychology ((PDPS))

Abstract

Early in my professional development, I worked in a special education cooperative that provided a variety of services, including psychoeducational assessment services, to an 11-county area in rural southeastern Texas. One day, my supervisor handed me the assignment of evaluating a young handicapped girl in a town 1½ half hours from the center. She was enrolled in a small community-supported program for developmentally delayed children. I was to provide her teacher with some practical information to assist in planning educational activities for the young girl.
