Summary
Although evolutionary pressures have produced an extremely wide range of phenotypes among conidial fungi, morphology may sometimes be sufficiently distinctive or conservative as to suggest either monophyly or strong convergence in certain groups of anamorph-genera. A number of these groups are discussed and illustrated, with confirmatory or confounding evidence from the known teleomorphs.
