We report on the fabrication of a prototype interface to couple light from an array of vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers to a multimode fiber ribbon. The optical components comprising the interface, namely multimode waveguides and refractive microlens arrays, are formed from a UV-curable optical adhesive using a simple, low-cost fabrication technique. The average measured coupling efficiency for the prototype interface was 47.5% with further improvement expected in future work.
