Abstract
As long as complex technological systems are built, human beings are expected to control and supervise these systems. An important part of the design is the area where the human supervisor and the system come together, the so-called human-machine interface. In order to design the interface, the individual tasks to be executed by the supervisor and system have to be defined very precisely. However, this task allocation can only be achieved optimally when the capabilities and limitations of both the supervisor and the system to be supervised are known.
