Abstract
A 3-year Danish collaborative research project on ash deposition in PF-fired boilers was initiated in 1993. The project is targetted towards the power plants in Denmark, including the new USC-boilers under construction, with steam parameters 290 bar/580 °C and using coals of worldwide origins. The purpose of the project and the activities of each of the participants, i.e. the Jutland-Funen Electricity Consortium, ELSAM (project coordinator, full-scale tests), the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (coal, ash and deposit characterization) and the Combustion and Harmful’ Emission Control (CHEC) research programme at the Technical University of Denmark (modelling of ash deposition propensities) are presented. Projects and activities on related topics will also be presented. These include biomass aspects, fuel organics, high temperature corrosion, trace elements, ash clean-up and residues.
