Abstract

The following analysis of the American and Chinese views of economy reflects upon the influences of three characteristically different systems and environments. The first part of this chapter is based on four economic concepts of high level abstraction: economy, development, industry and agriculture. In the second half of this chapter we examine four themes that are much more concrete and bear on fundamental human needs like food and clothing.
