The 2kW-4.4K-refrigerator has been put into operation in 1993. It has altogether run a total of 1 l,000h in 4.4K refrigeration and liquefaction mode and ca. 3,000h in combined 3.3K and 4.4K operation mode including the test runs during commissioning.

The paper presents the experience gathered with the hardware components, the software and the operation of the plant as a whole since the acceptance tests of the refrigerator.
