Abstract
In order to operate HTc-wires under high magnetic field conditions (for example: SMES) cooling with liquid nitrogen is not sufficient since a temperature between 20–30 K has to be maintained continuously in order to produce high fields. Using commercial Gifford-McMahon refrigerators this range till now was only been achieved by dual stage machines. It will be shown that such temperatures can be achieved even more efficiently by improved single stage coldheads, providing capacities of more than 25 W at 20K.
