Elaborations, Conclusions, Contributions
In the first part of this chapter, elaborations and extrapolations based on the current model of five stages in development are presented. Issues as different as personality development, censorship, the biology of mate selection, parenting, and the nature of reproductive strategies are discussed. The section terminates with speculation about the nature of the most mature cognitive stage in the current theory, that of postformal collective intelligence, and the nature of the stage of intelligence that may develop in the future when medical technology permits a much longer lifespan than that of today. The second part of the chapter comprises a summary of the contributions of the book to the movement of postmodernism.
