Abstract
Chapter 1 presented the concept of theory in science. This chapter describes the general approach to behavior by developmental psychologists. Among the topics discussed in this chapter are structural approaches to the study of behavior, correlational research strategies, and the types of explanations of behavior that may follow from both.
