Video Imaging Devices, Cameras, and Monitors

In this chapter we will examine some basic characteristics of video imaging devices, cameras, and monitors. The video imaging devices, or sensors, include the vidicons and related camera tubes, the highly sensitive image-intensifier tubes, and the compact solid-state pickup devices. The imaging devices are usually packaged as an integral part of the video camera. In some instrumentation cameras, one can choose from among several tube types.
