Adolescence and Personality Disorders

Current Perspectives on a Controversial Problem

  • Chapter
Treatment of Personality Disorders

Abstract

This chapter focuses on the controversial problem of the meaning and validity of the diagnosis of Personality Disorders (PD) during adolescence. Is there anything specific to PD during this life phase? What are the internal and external factors producing such specificity? Is it possible to go beyond the difficulty of discriminating between PD and other more transient forms of psychological distress during adolescence?
