Abstract

We are all familiar with the notion of distance in euclidean n-space: If x and y are points in R n then

$${\text{dist}}\left( {{\text{x,y}}} \right){\text{ = }}{\left( {\sum\limits_{i = 1}^n {{{\left( {{x_i} - {y_i}} \right)}^2}} } \right)^{1/2}}.$$

A round man cannot be expected to fit in a square hole right away. He must have time to modify his shape.

Mark Twain
