Abstract
Acute gastrointestinal hemorrhage can be a challenging problem and, depending upon its severity, may require resources from various hospital areas and coordination of several team physicians. The morbidity and mortality can be profoundly affected by delays in delivery of care and, therefore, a well-integrated system is necessary to ensure an optimal outcome. All physicians participating in the care of these patients must maintain an excellent working knowledge of the proper diagnostic and therapeutic maneuvers that are currently available.
