Abstract

Siblings with a close and warm relationship can provide companionship for one another, enhance morale, and provide psychological as well as tangible support through major life events. Not only are strong sibling ties rewarding in themselves throughout childhood and adulthood, but they lay the foundation for a more satisfying old age in which the remaining siblings from the family of origin can assist and comfort one another’s last years.
