Magnetic Oxide Particles Prepared by Glass Crystallization

Properties and Applications

Abstract

Glass crystallization was used and further developed for preparation of micro- and nano- crystalline particulate oxide media of different compositions and with different properties. These media may find applications in high-density magnetic recording devices, in novel ferrofluids, in microwave devices, in glass-ceramic materials, as initial materials for composites and for biomedical purposes. The properties of these media and the performance of this method are discussed as well as its limitations.
