Abstract

It appears to be generally accepted that when talking about reversed systems we are concerned with thermodynamically stable systems and hence knowledge about phase equilibria is of great importance. This lays down a solid basis for comparative studies, but one is confused by the fact that different research groups work in different systems to an extent which makes comparison of results quite difficult. An exception appears to be Aerosol OT which has been used as a model system by many people. However, for reasons given below, I think that more work should be done with other systems. At the recent meeting in Lund a number of people from France, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden und the UK decided to investigate the system Sodium/Octyl/Benzene Sulfonate/water/butanol/hexadecane by different methods; we hope that this effort will result in better possibilities to compare results from different laboratories.
