Abstract
Many of today’s embedded systems are designed with programmable processor cores as their building blocks. As a consequence, software development for embedded processors nowadays plays a significant role in the design flow. Traditionally, most embedded software has been written in assembly languages. However, due to the numerous drawbacks of assembly-level programming and the increasing time-tomarket pressure, now there is a shift towards using high-level language compilers.
